UFC’s welterweight division is now getting interesting! As Jake Shields face George St. Pierre in the upcoming UFC welterweight championship bout in Toronto, Canada for the first time. UFC president Dana White also confirmed that the upcoming main event fight in UFC 127 between B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch will decided who will be the next title contender for the UFC welterweight title which is currently held by George St. Pierre.
BJ Penn was once a title holder in the welterweight division and even faced George St. Pierre where BJ was beaten twice. BJ Penn came back to lightweight and held the title for a long time and move again in the welterweight after he was defeated twice by Frank Edgar.
Jon Fitch on the other hand dominated the welterweight for a long time but he failed to win the title against George St. Pierre. That title match against GSP was his only stain for the past years of his career in the UFC.
Fitch is known from lay and pray style or let’s say a boring fighting style while Penn finish fights if there’s a chance. Can BJ Penn make Jon Fitch fight as a hungry fighter? Let’s find out in the upcoming UFC 127 this month of February.
